The Coastal Settlement

March 10th, 2012 by sixpegs

I don’t know about you, but I am one of those few Singaporeans who are quite not-cool when it comes
to being informed about the new hip cafes or restaurants in town.
Most of the time, I’m normally the one being brought around to check out new places.
And I wish to change that! Hahaha.

I visited two new places, one was recommended by an Instagram follower and the other was recommended by a friend.
Absolutely loved this two new places because I’m such a big sucker for cute decor.
Hope you will like them too!

When I first heard that it is ALL the way in the East at Loyang area, I was quite turned off.
But I guess being far away from the bustling city makes this place more attractive!
I liked the place the moment I saw it.
Quiet, quaint and the decor is pretty but not over the top.

A lot of greens and Beetles all over the outdoor dining area.
But once you set foot into the restaurant itself, it’s like a totally different world!

I like how all the chairs and tables are all different.
If I had a house in future, I would wanna do the exact same thing! Heh.
Apart from the obvious gorgeous decor of the place, there are also many other pretty little things to look at.
Like these:

There are many interesting things to look at and it almost didn’t feel like a cafe at all.
If you have a thing for old stuff, you would definitely love this place.
There are also many small little things that are for sale over here,
old school CASIO watches, polaroid films, accessories, etc.

The place is HUGE and spacious.
The servers are all very friendly and smiley, really nice.
Toilets are clean. (Ok that’s a very auntie statement but we all have to agree that it’s very important)

IMG_1778

The food shouldn’t be too bad too.
I only had beer and chicken wings there (the wings were good!)
but I heard that this place is under the same management as CMPB in Dempsey.
So I guess the food can’t be that bad.

We picked a seat outside and we loved it.
Quiet and peaceful. Heh!
Might have some mosquito problem though, but do feel free to ask for mosquito coils from the staff.
Hahaha.

We sat there from 5pm to 11pm.
It was awesome.

This other place I went to was introduced by Instagram follower @dropletslove.
BIG THANKS for the recommendation!
The place is just a 5 to 10 mins walk away from A’s house and we were thrilled to discover another nearby chillout place.

I did a little research about Wimbly Lu before I checked it out.
Realized that the food there was meh.
It is more of a desserts, chocolate bar kinda place so it’ll be great if you pop by for after-meal sweets.

The place is really cute though.

I can imagine how my mother would react if she were to come here.
“Wah! Your Ah Mah used to have this dressing table too!”
or
“Aiyo! This table is the very old kind leh!”

IMG_1792

As you walk deeper into the cafe, you will see a greenhouse-like decor!
The ceiling is made of glass but the place is still very cooling.
I love the fake grass interior too. Cute!

Love, me

February 15th, 2012 by sixpegs

A and I visited this new place we have been wanting to visit for the longest time.
We are a big fan of pretty places and when we found out about this place called Antoinette from some TV show,
we were thrilled and cannot wait to go there right away!
This is not an advertisement but I really wanna share this place to anyone who wants a pretty place to have tea and nice sweets.

There are actually 3 different branches and you can find their address from their website.
The one we went to is at Penhas Road and it’s really nice to find such a place in a boring looking place like Penhas Road. :p

This place reminds of the Laduree in Paris!
I love the pretty blue theme of this cafe and the gorgeous European decor.

Here are some pictures of Antoinette.
This place is so pretty that all the pictures turned out very well no matter where and how I take them. Hahaha!

There are a lot of pretty cookies and stuff you can get off the shelves too.

A and I went there after our lunch at Dempsey so we weren’t too hungry.
And we really regretted it because everything there looks super yummy!
They do serve pasta and other mains too, I must try it out in future. :D
We ordered the Nougatine crepe, Vanilla Meringue, Maple Pudding, Royal Hot Chocolate and tea.

I LOVE the cups and teapots there! Pretty.
Really feels like I was back in Paris for a while! :p

The prices of the stuff there are quite okay considering the good ambience.
Our meal there was about $50.
Oh and I also bought a box of cookies too! Very value for money. :)

I hope everyone had a good Valentines’ Day celebration yesterday!
Though Valentines’ Day can be rather overrated sometimes, I think it’s good to have such a day as a reminder for us to love!
Love your lover, love your parents, your friends, your pets!

A and I went back to The Night Safari for our Valentines’ Day celebration.
It was a really important place for us because this is the place where we first went for our first official date.
Hahahaha.
But before that, here are some pictures of me snapping pictures of the furry children and myself. :p

I wanna specially thanks reader Lilian for the Night Safari tickets!
And I hope you like the Antoinette cookies I got for you too. :)

We were super excited about trip so we brought some dummy toy cameras to snap pictures too!
Feels like another school excursion! :p

IMG_1058

Dinner was in The Night Safari itself and we just had simple Fish & Chips. Heh!
I like our frills-free date

I wish I could take more pictures but it is so dark in there.
So the only type pictures I can take is this type. SHADOWS! Haha!

Even the toilets are pretty. Lol!

Then I saw this sign as we were walking and I told A “Oh my God! I wanna see the farking deer!”
HAHAHAHA!
After we walked nearer, we realized that the sign says “Barking Deer” instead.
LOL. I thought we could see the farking deer. Never see before eh! :p

Here is one more picture of A the tiger. :p

We ended the night with masks and loving for Maliboo.
Not sure why Boo always look so miserable and suspicious!
I guess it’s just her natural face. Haha!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines’ Day!
And remember to love everyday, not just on the annual Vday! :p
There are comments asking me to share more about my skincare regime.
Will be back with an entry about my current skincare regime and tips on how you can improve your skin soon!

Till then, take care friends!
