Goods Of Desire
July 8th, 2012 by sixpegs
On Thursday night at around 4am, A and I suddenly decided that we want to go to a farm together.
(Yes we are so ridiculously random sometimes)
So we decided to go check out the Kranji Countryside area the following morning!
I guess this is the problem for us non-westies because the west is SO FAR away.
And driving all the way to the west makes us feel like we are not in Singapore anymore, in a good way!
We went online to check out some of the farms in Lim Chu Kang area and we got really excited.
Reminded me of the times I went to those mushroom farms on school excursions!
A recommended me to this place called Bollywood Veggies, and raved about how healthy and absolutely good the food was.
And so, Bollywood Veggies it shall be!

I like the owners’ sense of humour.

I’m sure it’s not just me – I think this place really doesn’t feel like the usual Singapore we are familiar with.
And it’s such a nice change to be able to have a quiet brunch
in an honest feeling and down-to-earth place like Bollywood Veggies!
This place is started by a couple after retirement. They have a house just by the farm.
Cute!
As for the good food, you cannot miss Poison Ivy because it’s right by the main entrance!

Look at some of the recognition Poison Ivy has gained!
Read more about the founders (and farmers) at Bollywood Veggies here.
It’s quite interesting!

And the resident doggies at Bollywood Veggies.

We had a table in the outdoor area because we thought there’s no other better place to get some fresh air!
It was surprisingly quite crowded when we were there.
It was an ordinary Friday morning and I wonder why there are so many people who are not working on a weekday.
But whatever it is, every single person there looked happy with their food and we were mad hungry watching others eat!
Another thing that made me love this place more is when I found out about
how they embrace older or employees with physical disabilities.
We also met one of the many rescued dog who now has a home at Bollywood Veggies!

Sleepy, hungry people.

I think I stumbled a bit while I rushed for my cutlery when the food came,
because the food looked SO GOOD!
Sweet Potato Leaves. I love this dish!
It’s so hard to find good sweet potato leaves dishes now!

The bill came up to about $20 plus if I’m not wrong.
We also had fresh aloe vera drinks and brunch felt so healthy and wholesome!
I will definitely definitely go back again for more yummy family-style lunches.
We toured around the farm a little after lunch and it made me love this place even more.
Look at the little touches of fun in this farm!

THERE REALLY ARE ANTS CROSSING!

OK, A made me do this.

There is also a little corner where you bring home some of the organic food produced by Bollywood Veggies.
Really cute!
We bought some banana chips and seeds to grow our own veggies too. :p

A and I also attended the official opening of the Goods of Desire store in Singapore!
I LOVE Goods of Desire and I’m so happy to know it’s finally here.
Here is my outfit of the day.
Special thanks to the wonderful Fount Shop for the gorgeous white sleeveless blouse to go with the suit!

I love this range of crockery.
We bought the “dim sum baskets” bag wine bottle carrier home too!
