The Youth Booster is here!

February 6th, 2012 by sixpegs

Hope it has been a fabulous Monday for everybody!
I’ve had a lot of fun shopping and stuff today and also bought new facial foam and perfume!
Gees. I love being a girl!
Speaking about skincare, I wanna share this new treasure I have just tried lately.
Have you ever felt that your regular skincare products will somehow lose its effectiveness after a while?
That even if it’s something that was very suitable for your skin, it doesn’t seem to be working as well as before?
If you said yes, then you’re not alone!

There is no scientific explanation to proof this observation but I believe all of us have experienced this before.
Before this, I have never seen a similar product in the market and I was pleasantly surprised
when I read up more about this new product.

The L’Oréal Youth Code Boosting Essence is a new product that helps your skin
absorb active ingredients in skincare better and hence boosting your skincare effectiveness by two times!

Screen shot 2012-02-06 at PM 07.19.16
Screen shot 2012-02-06 at PM 07.19.39

This little bottle is not here to replace your regular skincare products but it will definitely be their best friend,
to help make all the results your current products promised come true.
I have always thought trying out various products and brands over and over again
to find the perfect one a long and tedious process.
And it is never easy to find the one product that is suitable for me,
the one that doesn’t give me breakouts and rashes.
So when I found out about this Boosting Essence, I was thrilled!

Screen shot 2012-02-06 at PM 07.20.01

It comes with a small pipette so it makes application very easy.

Oh! And I LOVE the smell too!
I hate that sticky and “thick” feeling when I pile on layers and layers of products on my skin.
So I was a little apprehensive about adding another product to my daily regime initially.
But the texture of this essence is awesome because after the product gets absorbed, I swear it feels like nothing at all!
Even better than all of the other essence I have!
Really felt like nothing at all!
It was almost like water but feels and smells so much nicer.
Instant results you can see are how the skin looks fresher and is softer to touch.
I’m glad that after one week of usage
(and especially during the Chinese New Year period where I had to put on heavier makeup almost everyday),
my skin still remains supple and “perky”.
The face felt like it just finished a 2 weeks makeup-free holiday! :p

when you purchase Youth Code Boosting Essence.

You can also go to the L’Oreal Paris Facebook Page to find out more and stand a chance to win a S$50 Robinsons voucher!

I have “recruited” this new member into my daily skincare regime and it’s totally awesome!
I’m excited about this advertisement because it doesn’t feel like an advertisement at all.
Heh! You guys have to try this, especially if you feel your current skincare products are
reaching a bottleneck at giving you good results!

Thank me later! :p

This would probably the last entry of Sunday Advertorials being shown this way.
Fret not, Sunday Advertorials is not going to stop for good,
but I am currently in the midst of discussing with the web designer to come up with a more exciting way of featuring the shops!
The new website layout would HOPEFULLY be able to be launched next Sunday!
And till then, happy shopping girls!

Chiang Mai II

January 26th, 2012 by sixpegs

Before I begin, let me wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year!
Hope the Dragon Year would be a HUAT HUAT year for everyone and may everyone be happy, sexy, glam and healthy!

Screen shot 2012-01-25 at PM 11.20.26

This Chinese New Year has been a rather quiet one for everyone in my family.
We didn’t do any visiting this year because of Grandma’s recent demise,
but we still had fun at our family chalet! :)
I visited A’s place though, and it was a lot of fun meeting her family.
I hope A had fun at my family chalet and family dinner too. Heh!

I also received some pretty clothes to wear for the new year!
Special thanks to SugarThreads for the super adorable striped dress and
LustMonday for the comfy and stylish looking chiffon shirt dress!
Many many love!

I shall continue with my travel to Chiang Mai!
This is probably my favourite part of the entire Chiang Mai trip – visiting the Karen Tribe in Mae Hong Son and Elephant rides.
But before I start on those, I MUST share this amazing place in Chiang Mai that A and I chanced upon
while we were researching about Chiang Mai couple weeks ago.

Nimmanhaemin Road is supposedly the hippest and most artsy place in Chiang Mai.
Littered with lots of cute cafes and chillout places, this is the perfect place to escape to
if one wants to escape from the typical “Chiang Mai sights”!

If you google or youtube the place, you can actually see a lot more pictures of the streets.
There are about 19 or more little streets branching off the main Nimmanhaemin Road, almost all are awesome!
Lots and lots of hidden treasures!

P1013765
P1013766

We saw this pretty little shop and we were blown away!
A lot of the things in there were made from recycled materials and they are all super cute!
It’s at Nimmanhaemin Soi 19, for those who are interested.
There is a shop, a cafe and a Ukulele shop in one!

Creative!

Chiang Mai Post 22

Here are some of the things they sell in there.
A bought that blue/green document bag you see in the collage.
When we first saw it, we were guessing the material it’s made with.
After checking with the store assistant, we were pleasantly surprised that it was actually made from an old fridge door!
The sides of the bag has the rubber tubings from the old fridge too. Mad special!
It’s not cheap, about S$200, but definitely worth the price!

Chiang Mai Post 21

Our main aim at Nimmanhaemin Road was initially to find this shop we saw in one of the Youtube clips.
After asking around and some googling at the WIFI cafes there, we finally found it!
It’s called iBerry at Nimmanhaemin Soi 19. Super cute!
I wish there is such a place in Singapore too!

The next day, we visited one of the prettiest temple I have ever seen.
The White Temple.
It’s unlike most conventional temples because it looks very modern and is entirely white!

P1013937

Inside the main temple hall, photography is prohibited.
But I managed to sneak a few photos. Hehehe!
Look at this! In which temple can you see such funky wall paintings?!
These are the things that we mortals are all caught up with, that we forget the true meaning of living.
I see Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil, Kungfu Panda and Transformers! Can you? :p

you’d know what a stone letter is.
Here is a stone letter A and I exchanged in the temple.

Chiang Mai Post 26

After the temple, we ventured out to look at the infamous Golden Triangle.
I never exactly knew what the Golden Triangle is before I got there.
It’s actually a little triangle formed by borders of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand,
and it was one of the most illicit opium-producing areas a few decades ago.
I wonder if there are still such businesses going on in there now.

We later went to visit the Karen Tribe at Mae Hong Son.
This is one of my favourite parts of the entire trip.
I have heard so much about these long-neck people and I’m honoured to have the chance to meet them.
They live in the same village as another tribe where the women would enlarge their ear piercings.
It’s fascinating!

And this lady is one of the singles in this village, supposedly one of the prettier ones there.
Their skin is so fair and nice!
Put her in a singlet and jeans and she can pass off as one of our cousins lor!

P1014119

And the long-neck tribe, also known as Karen Tribe.
They originate from Burma, present day Myanmar.

P1014153
P1014138
P1014139
P1014159

Looking at these women saddens me a bit actually.
The tour guide told us that these women need to put the rings into their necks by
slipping brass rings in molten state through their heads and let them harden at their necks.
So they will have a lot of burn marks under the rings.
THAT’S SO CRUEL AND SCARY!

But after doing some research when I got back, I realized that that wasn’t the case.
Tour guide kayu.
Here is a Youtube clip that shows you how the rings are put on and removed.
And yes, it is also a myth that these ladies will die and their necks will break the moment the rings are removed.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL8ARB5FmsA]

But in some articles, I read about how the muscles in the neck will weaken after prolonged wearing of the brass rings.
And that after they remove the rings, the woman must lie in bed for the rest of their lives.
It was said to be one of the punishments for adultery.

Here is an article explaining why the Karen women wear the brass rings around their necks.
“There are many different accounts of why the Padaung practice this bizzare custom.
Their own mythology explains that it is done to prevent tigers from biting them!
Others have reported that it is done to make the women unattractive so they are less likely to be captured by slave traders.
The most common explanation, though, is the opposite of this -
that an extra-long neck is considered a sign of great beauty and wealth and that it will attract a better husband.”

Anyways, it was the Thai Childrens Day that day so A and I decided to buy some candies and chocolates for the kids.
Some of them never eat chocolates before eh. :(
And they are so not in touch with society that they don’t even know it’s Childrens Day.

We would be considered freaking ugly if we were. Haha.

Dove Chocolates. Chiang Mai. My Love.

January 18th, 2012 by sixpegs

It’s time for another post for my favourite Dove chocolates!
And when I was told to blog about something close to heart -
something similar to the warm fluffy feeling melting a piece of chocolate in my mouth would give me,
I thought I should dedicate this entry to my beloved Mom.

Screen shot 2012-01-18 at AM 01.21.27

My mother has always been an inspiration to me since young.
She always struck me as a free-spirited, optimistic and daredevil woman.
Although she is my mother, she has always been more of a friend instead.
We could talk about almost anything and we are comfortable to show our innermost feelings before each other.
Well, to me at least.

Screen shot 2012-01-18 at AM 01.21.55

Mommy was a really adventurous girl.
She used to tell me how she just picked up her luggage and went off to Japan to live and
work for half a year when she was about 21 or 22.
And when she was in her late twenties, she did it again, that time to London.

In many ways, she has taught me how to be daring enough to go after what you want and follow your heart.
I see a lot of myself in her.

Screen shot 2012-01-18 at AM 01.22.07
Screen shot 2012-01-18 at AM 01.22.14

Mommy is my best friend and the one person I will never ever forsake.
With this entry for Dove chocolates, I’d like to dedicate this post for the woman I love the most.

Thanks for bringing me into this beautiful world and teaching me all the right things in life.

Screen shot 2012-01-18 at AM 01.22.39

I’m feeling all fluffy and warm inside now. Heh!
And of course, just in case you’ve missed all the wonderful silky smooth
Dove chocolates I’ve introduced on my blog earlier,
here is one reminder for you to try out the smooth chocolates from Dove.
Melt the silky smooth chocolate in your mouth for that warm, fluffy feeling of love too. :)

That aside, I just came back from my 5-days Chiang Mai trip too!
I was there with A and her colleagues, and I really enjoyed the company and Chiang Mai a lot.
It was rather chilly over there now but it can still be rather warm in the afternoon.
I wish Singapore had that kind of climate too!

P1013504

We stayed at Royal Princess Hotel, which was right smack in the middle of the main Night Bazaar area.
Lots of food, shopping and massage places all around so it was fabulous.
The hotel itself was pretty alright too. :)

P1013507
P1013506

Okay, to be honest, the writings on the wall freaked the scaredy-cat me slightly when I first entered the room.
But after I surveyed the other rooms and realised it was just a design, I heaved a sigh of relief.
You can’t be too sure, when it comes to hotel rooms. Hahaha.

P1013512
P1013511

It was already rather late when we we done with the hotel and all,
so we decided to just head for dinner and then start cruising around the nearby night market.
The night bazaar start at around 5pm daily and the stalls will start closing at around 10 or 11pm.
The stalls here are almost the same as those found in Bangkok actually.
But shopping around here is so much more pleasant because of the fine weather.
It was be quite cold at night, so even if it’s quite crowded, it never gets hot and stuffy. :)

I always say dirty looking things tastes the best. Hahaha! Kidding.

We started it with a visit to the famous Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep.

it’s as if you’ve never been to Chiang Mai.

Our regular tour buses were too big and these are the “buses” we took.

P1013635

The weather was great and we were lucky to catch quite a few cherry blossom trees on our way up too!
If I’m not wrong, the tribe is called Miao Tribe or something.
I’m never good with names.
They made a lot of handmade stuff for sale and seem to have green fingers because all the flowers up there were gorgeous!

The tour guide also showed us how they get what they want from the plant to make opium and heroine.
Apparently, you need to score the surface with a needle or something and collect the sap from the bud (or something).

P1013646

I rubbed some of the sap on my fingers and took a whiff.
Smells really funky. It was not pleasant but not exactly awful as well.
Just erm.. smells like plants lor. But the smell kinda grows on you and become less unpleasant after a few more whiffs.
Interesting.

And the marijuana plant.
This is the one that gives you your weed, your magic mushroom or whatever crazy hallucinating brownies.

My makeup mood.

January 8th, 2012 by sixpegs

I’m suddenly in the mood to do an introduction on how my normal “slightly heavier” makeup is like.
Random I know!
But it’s been a while since I last did such girly and makeup-related stuff on my blog,
so I thought, why not? :p

I don’t use much makeup usually.
Used to not be able to live without liquid foundation but I think I’m much better off without it.
I don’t use 2-way cakes too because I don’t like the cakey and powdery look,
and I think a good concealer will be able to do the job as well as foundations!

Here are some of the products I will be using today:

IMG_7311

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Navy, Steel and Woodrose.
Estee Lauder Blush in Nude Rose, Rosewood, Pink Kiss and Bronze Goddess.
Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ waterproof Mascara
Marjolica Eyeliner in black
Benefit Eyebrow Kit
ZA concealer
Chanel Lipstick in Vendome [25]

Start off with a clean face with only moisturizer on.
It helps make your skin more supple and acts as a good barrier between the makeup and your skin.
Of course, it’s important to keep your face hydrated as well!

IMG_7232

Concealer will help cover up dark eye rings!
I’ve got concealer on one side and none on the other, look at the difference!

IMG_7241

What can I say, concealer is really my BFF!!

Other than covering eye rings and blemishes, concealer can also act as a highlighter.
So do dab on some on your nose bridge, eyebrow bone area, some on the cheeks and the darker areas around nose and mouth.

IMG_7244

Similar to using liquid foundations, you need some loose powder to “set” the concealer and let it be less sticky.
Use less if you wanna achieve the dewy feel and more if you prefer a powdery look.
I love the loose powder from Paul and Joe!
The packaging is really pretty and it comes with a huge powder puff.
The quantity is huge too and it’s really value for money.

IMG_7252

Next, fill in the gaps in your eyebrows.
Eyebrows are important because they frame your face and it will “wake you up” instantly.
I use eyebrow powder because I think they are easier to control compared to pencils.
My eyebrow powder is a little too brown for me actually, bought them when I had brown hair. Hahaha!
But Benefit’s eyebrow kit is awesome! Comes with a mini tweezer too, it will come in handy when you’re travelling.

Then, eyeshadow!
I love this three colours from Bobbi Brown.
Use the lightest colour on a larger surface but don’t go beyond the bone under your eyebrows.
Then put on a slightly darker shade.
I like to put it darker on the outer edge of the eyes and then blend it in as it comes inwards.

Do put a piece of tissue paper under your eyes if you don’t want the powder to fall on your cheeks and ruin your makeup.
Alternatively, you can just put a huge amount of loose powder under your eyes (and then remove them later).

As for eyeliner, line it as close to the lash line as possible if you want it to look natural.
I like to also use a smudger to smudge the line so it doesn’t look too “clean”.
[Pardon my messy eyebrows!!]

IMG_7276

I love Maybelline’s The Falsies mascara!
Who needs falsies when you have this wonderful mascara!
Other than having a really cute packaging, it’s a really good product too.

IMG_7279

And then the blush!
The best way to know where the blush should go is to smile and apply the powder on the “apples”.
If you already have heavy makeup on your eyes, go easy on the blush.
Remember, in makeup, less is more sometimes!

IMG_7285

I also like to spray some water on my face after my makeup is completed so that it doesn’t look too powdery.
I think you can’t really tell the difference from the pictures though.
You guys can try ZA’s energy water if you’re interested.
But I think plain water will do just fine too. Heh!

IMG_7290

I love my red lipstick!
A red lipstick will never go out of fashion, so depending on your makeup,
you can also try out a red lipstick if you wanna look Da Bomb! :p

Dove chocolates, my best friend.

Jn5SHE on Make A Gif, Animated Gifs

Move over, diamonds. Chocolates are now a girl’s best friend.
And my best friend is definitely Dove’s DARK CHOCOLATES!
Other than taking care of how you look on the outside, you should also start taking care of your body on the inside.

For this entry, I wanna share more about Dove’s silky smooth Dark Chocolate bar.
Dark chocolates contain lots of antioxidants, higher than that in red wine and green tea.
It also has potassium, magnesium and other vitamins like B1, B2, D and E.

Why should you make dark chocolates your best friend? Here are some reasons!
[It’s my own little research and here are some information I gathered off the net]

1. Pregnancy
Babies born to women who ate chocolates daily during their pregnancy were more active, happier and showed less fear of new situations.
The chemicals in chocolate that produce a positive mood can be passed onto the foetus!

2. Coughing
My Mom used to tell me that chocolates are ‘heaty’ & would probably make my cough become worse
but little did she know that the Theobromine in chocolates is actually a miracle ingredient that can ease coughing!
According to some research done, the chemical suppresses vagus nerve activity, which is responsible for coughing

It’s yummy and definitely tastes better than medicine. :p

3. In need of a Happy Food?
Moderate amounts of chocolate and darker chocolate can let you have that euphoric feeling
as it contains chemicals like Trytophan, Phenylethylamine and Amandamide.
Ok, those are really huge names but the bottomline here is – Chocolates can make you a happier person!

4. Heart
Chocolates contain a chemical that prevent fat-like substances in our blood from oxidizing and clogging the arteries.
It also helps prevent blood clots and thus encourages a healthier blood flow.

5. Aging
Polyphenols found in chocolate neutralizes harmful free radicals and prevent them from attacking our cells
and destroying the vitamins in our bodies.

With all this, I hereby declare that dark chocolates will be my new best friend!

Dove chocolate bars are now available in 80g too!
3 flavours: Dove Milk, Hazelnut and Raisin and 66% Cacao Dark Chocolate!

I especially love the dark chocolate flavor because it’s silky smooth!
It is hard to find really smooth dark chocolates because they don’t contain milk and hence is not as smooth as milk chocolates.
But THIS, is god sent!
If you’re still in search of the perfect gift of love and good health,
Visit your nearest supermarket or convenience store and grab some of these delicious treats for your loved ones now.

YUMMY!

The last day in Rome.

December 15th, 2011 by sixpegs

Screen shot 2011-12-15 at PM 06.41.54

It was our last two days in Rome.
We received a call from my Mom that morning and was told that Grandma had passed away,
and we spent the entire morning trying to get a flight back and
to settle some of the accommodation and flights which were already paid for.
A also tried to see if the travel insurance we bought could help.
It was such a hectic morning.

And before I start, here is a cute leatherette black top I received from Bare Minimal.
It’s comfortable and so easy to match and accessorize. I love it!

I frigging love my pageboy hat too! :p

Screen shot 2011-12-15 at PM 08.18.08

Ok back to our Rome trip, we decided to make it our last day in Rome worthwhile and tried to run some last minute errands.
As usual, we’ll start with our Looks of the Day! :)

It was a very chilly morning in Rome that day.
Even if we were sitting in the sun, it was still quite cold!
I never loved the sun so much! It feels really good on the skin. :)

Brunch was an overdose of tomato – tomato-based pasta and tomato soup.
We didn’t realised that we ordered so much tomato stuff until the food was served.
It made me laugh at ourselves a bit. Hahaha.

As we started the day rather late, we had to cut our Vatican City tour much shorter.
We decided to just check out the exterior and head on to get our meals and shopping done.
And I think we both had that “last minute” mentality, so we had short spurts of trigger-happy moments every now and then. Heh!

Because of the next 7 days of our trip being cancelled, we were each left with quite a bit of euros.
So we decided to just go and buy some serious brands. :p
We initially kept Zara for our Barcelona trip because it is afterall a Spanish brand,
but because we’ll be skipping Barcelona, we went to check out the Zara in Rome too.
We bought two purses and I bought a bag. :)

I heard the coffee beans here are all roasted there and coffee are all freshly brewed.

From Paris to Rome.

Screen shot 2011-12-09 at PM 06.42.22

This is our last day before we leave for Rome.
How I miss Paris now already. I wish I was still there!
Before I begin, here is a pretty one-piece short jumpsuit I received from The Friday Best.
Oh my god, I love it!
It’s super comfortable and I think I’m going to head out in it tomorrow. :p
You can throw on a belt if you want, but I like it baggy like that. Looks cute! Heh.

We visited Galleries LaFayette, a big shopping area with a lot of “serious brands”.
A and I call huge labels “serious brands” because one needs to be very serious when you’re shopping from these brands.
Hahaha!
To be honest, serious brands shopping for ONE WHOLE DAY can be really tiring and boring.
But something you girls might be interested in is the LongChamp store in there.
It’s near the main entrance and there is always a loooonnnngggg line of tourists waiting to go in!
More interestingly, all the tourists are Asians.
I don’t know why we like LongChamp so much, but I think the stuff there are really much cheaper. :)

Although it’s Diet Coke (which I dislike), I bought it anyway. :p

Spread some love with MasterCard.

December 5th, 2011 by sixpegs

What is the first thing that comes to mind when I say “Christmas”?

For me, it is pretty white snow, gifts, new dresses for myself, Christmas carols,
and a reminder to do good to share love and joy throughout the world.

Screen shot 2011-12-05 at PM 08.36.33

During this season of giving, MasterCard not only remembered to give us the usual benefits of using MasterCard when shopping,
but they are also making a contribution to Singapore Children’s Society while you’re happy shopping.

Love ASOS, Neiman Marcus and other international shopping websites?
If so, sit up and be wowed by what you can win and do while shopping with your MasterCard cards this festive season!
‘A Season of Giving’ is the MasterCard end-of-year campaign,
offering shopping and shipping rewards for buying gorgeous goodies from any international shopping sites! ANY of these sites!
Isn’t it great? :D

Screen shot 2011-12-05 at PM 08.36.41

Register your MasterCard cards and spend 500USD on international shopping sites
between 15th November and 31st December 2011 for your chance to qualify for a S$50 shopping voucher!
That’s almost like getting a 10% discount off your purchases! :p
But be fast! Because this is only valid for the first 1600 registered cards!
If you’re thinking 500USD is too much, then fret not!
This 500USD can be a combined amount from maximum of 3 transactions of 50USD or more!
And international websites can be any that bill in currencies other than Singapore dollars.
(That means my favourite ASOS is in!)
I think I have spent at least $600 at ASOS in my last couple transactions!
I wish this offer came earlier!! :(

Screen shot 2011-12-05 at PM 08.36.48

On top of all these, there is also 10% off shipping through vPostEurope, vPostJapan & vPostUSA.
[Minimum spending of S$40 through vPostUSA]

Ok, now for the best part of this entire offer.
MasterCard will be making a contribution to Singapore Children’s Society to help them provide education to children in need!
Christmas is the season of giving and everyone deserves a Christmas present. The best gift, if you ask me, if a gift of love or a gift of knowledge. You can now give both when you’re shopping with MasterCard.
What more can we ask for? :)

See here to find out more now!

My legs are numb.

December 4th, 2011 by sixpegs

A very good piece of advice my uncle gave everyone in the family that day was “Life goes on”.
The 5-days wake for Grandma has ended.
Today is the 7th day after Grandma left this world and here I am at home again.
Life still feels somewhat the same, except that I’ll never see Grandma again.
Rainbows will still be as beautiful, freshly cut grass will still smell as sweet.
Grandma is now in heaven looking over us and she will always live in our memories.
I’m glad my family is doing fine and we even made a verbal pact that the family gatherings will go on,
and we will still be as close as before.
I’m now writing with a horrible stiff neck (with a huge koyok at the back of my neck).
Went to a Chinese physician earlier and hopefully the pain will go away soon.

I shall continue with my entries about the recent Europe trip.

Screen shot 2011-12-04 at PM 08.28.04

There is more than just the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre in Paris.
A and I visited the beautiful Notre Dame Cathedral & Pantheon too.
Before we begin, I shall share our Looks of the Day!

A is looking really cute with the bowler’s hat and all suited up on black and white.
I think I have never seen A with a bad hair day before.

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season!

After much inner struggle, I have picked 5 exciting ones to share. :p

I cannot take my eyes off this few items, super cute to the max!
I have a passport cover that looks similar to this and since I love travelling, this would make a really good travel journal. :)

Screen shot 2011-11-24 at AM 03.45.46

And these!
I think it’s a good way to punk the staff at the customs at the airport. Haha! Kidding.
Really cute isn’t it?
I think it’ll be a real good travel buddy.

Screen shot 2011-11-24 at AM 03.45.52

I also love this bright yellow one-piece Beatrice is wearing!
The color is bright and Beatrice looks fabulous! :D

Screen shot 2011-11-24 at AM 03.45.57

And of course, a pair of classic black harem pants will always be a good choice to pick out if you don’t know what to wear.
This pair looks really comfy!

Screen shot 2011-11-24 at AM 03.46.04

And even DVDs. I LOVE “Love and Other Drugs”. Both leads are hotties and the storyline rocks too. :p

The girls went to Genting this time round!

November 2nd, 2011 by sixpegs

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.41.51

A and I made a short trip to Genting Highlands couple recently and it was so much fun.
To be honest, I never thought visiting Genting would be so much fun!
I always thought all that was there in Genting is just the Themepark, but I was so wrong!
It was good going back there again after more than 5 years. :)
We went by coach and took the one by Five Stars.
The seats are super spacious and comfy.
We upgraded to Executive Deluxe and I’m glad we did.
We managed to grab some rest before we reached Genting.

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.44.35

Every seat comes with a personal entertainment set that is loaded with lots of movies.
The backrest and leg rest can all be inclined too!
It’s really important to be able to be well rested and have ample rest before the actual Genting trip!
And Five Stars is definitely a good choice and did not disappoint at all, in fact,
I’m really impressed with the standard of the coach bus!

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.44.45
Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.44.58
Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.45.06

I believe some people sees Genting as a boring place to go to whenever the family wants to go on a trip
but don’t wanna go too far.
Some just sees it as a place where people visit when they want to go to the casino.
But frankly, I think it is a good place to escape to if you wanna chill with yourself or your loved ones.
The weather there is perfect.
Everything that you need is easily available and it’s the perfect place to just runaway to over the weekend.

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.45.12

A and I made this trip a very relaxed and laidback one this time round.
Other than spending our time curling up in bed watching movies,
we also spent time doing things we normally wouldn’t do when we are in Genting.
We visited the arcade, went into Snowworld, visited the indoor themepark and attempted to get onto those kiddy rides.
But my favourite would be the nice coffee sessions we had in the pretty alfresco coffee joints there.

Here are the yummy food we found in Houmei Noodle House and Hainan Kitchen.
These are the two places we frequent most. I had the chicken rice for lunch and dinner on the same day!
Gotta love the chicken rice there! :D What’s better is that the prepaid cards can be used in these outlets!
Here are some snapsnots!

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.47.04

This is the Tom Yum Bee Hoon I had.
There are LOTS of things to eat here, ranging from the regular Chinese food to Western cuisines.
When you’re at Genting, food is the least of your worries because of the wide variety
and how the prices are all so affordable and value for money!

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.45.50
Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.46.09

AND ICE CREAM!!!

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.46.18
Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.46.25

We also chilled and had a game or two of Monopoly Deal with Starbucks Coffee!
The seats are all in the alfresco area and it’s really nice to be able to sit around there
to just spend a nice afternoon there chatting, sipping coffee.
The weather is perfect and A’s company made it even better!
The Starbucks is in the main building near the lobby of the First World Hotel so it’s really convenient for us.

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.46.32

This is the hotel we are staying in – Hotel First World.
I think this building will probably appear in a lot of the pictures taken outdoors in Genting.
The design and all is so distinctive! There are lots of things in this hotel, and even the indoor themepark is in here.
Oh! The casino too! :)

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.46.40
Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.46.47

Night Entertainment! Live band with awesome singers found within First World Genting itself.
A and I spent our nights there because its location is really great – just right smack in the middle of First World Hotel.
They open till late so it’s an awesome place to spend the late evenings and nights.
And of course, these singers are absolutely great in what they are doing.
This place is none other than the Patio Bar Lounge, where you can have great live entertainment every night.
This place has recently been renovated so you can only expect the best at this welcoming bar!
The Patio now has 4 different themed areas, the General Bar, the Wine & Whisky Bar, The TIGER Bar and the ‘Godfather’s Lounge’.
The Patio operates daily from 5pm-2am on Sundays to Thursday
and 5pm-3am on Fridays, Saturdays, Eve of Public Holidays and Public Holidays.
All in all, perfect place to kick back and relax.

These are the prepaid cards that A and I absolutely love. Each card is RM300 in value.
We can use these cards in many of the outlets in Genting (across all three hotels)
and it’s so much more convenient using these cards rather than carrying a lot of cash around.
A looks so cute here by the way. Heh. :p

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.46.57

We also visited Snowworld! This is the place where you can experience a “winter’s climate” right there in Genting.
There are ice sculptures and and lots of snow all around.

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.47.11

A and I were like kids when we were in there. We picked this place over other activities that are available there.
I wish we had more time to check out other places there like the bowling alley,
haunted house and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not museum!
I had a very bimbotic moment trying to figure out whether the gloves are for the left or the right hand.
And stupid A caught me doing that. Hahahaha!

Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.47.17
Screen shot 2011-11-02 at AM 02.47.26

The Snowworld here is the largest indoor snow world in Malaysia!
Who says you cannot get to experience below zero temperature even in a tropical climate? :p

Entry is only priced at RM25. If you are a Genting World Card Member, you get an additional RM5 off!
Snowworld is located at Level T2A of First World Plaza.
I remember how fondly I loved Genting when I was a kid because of the awesome arcades there!
After this trip, I realised that I STILL love the arcades here a lot!
The arcades there are HUGE! We played almost everything from the kiddy games to the racing games.
Heh! It was really fun!

It was a pity that I didn’t get the chance of visiting the outdoor theme park during this trip
because it was raining cats and dogs when I was there.
Hope I’ll get to go there during my next trip!! I miss visiting the outdoor themepark
because I had so much fun the last time I was there. And I love feeling like a kid. :p

But fortunately, A and I get to visit the indoor themepark!
There are lots of rides that made both of us miss being kids again.
Don’t let the weather stop you from having good fun!

OH! And I love the hot chocolate they serve at The Bakery.
You need to melt your own chocolate into the milk!
It’s super yummy, especially in that chilly weather in Genting. It’s really awesome. MUST TRY!
I think it’s one of the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had!

We also took the chance to tour around the other hotels and found out that there are so many eating places there!
There was KTV, bowling, archery and many other stuff to do there too.
The prepaid cards we got are not just limited to First World Hotel.
A and I were so pleasantly surprised when we found out that
there are so many other restaurants and eateries in the other hotels. So much to choose from. :)

There are also these little gondolas you can take around the main First World Plaza area.
It is actually one of the rides you can take within the indoor themepark.
It’s a great way to take a break and just chill, kick back and relax for a little while!

All in all, this Genting trip has been fabulous.
Now each time I think of Genting, I’ll think of the times I spent together with A doing silly things like getting onto kiddy rides. :p

And last but not least, I love our comfortable Superior Deluxe room too!
It’s spacious and I love how it’s on high floors, the view of the mountains is awesome!
Who says you have to stay in a super tiny room when you’re in Genting?

Thanks for giving us such fond memories, Genting Highlands. :)
The next time you’re in Genting, don’t forget to try out the little fun things that you have always missed out.
There is so much more to do there than you can ever imagine.

My F1 Weekend.

October 26th, 2011 by sixpegs

This entry is way overdue but it’s better late than never! :p

I was SO excited when I heard that I’ll be part of the F1 Grand Prix weekend.
It was my first time watching the race live and it was really an exhilarating experience.
First and foremost, I want to extend my thanks to PROTON for the invitation. :)

I attended the PROTON roadshow on Friday night at Clarke Quay and
had the chance to check out the cars on display in close proximity, the Lotus-Renault Grand Prix showcar,
the Lotus Evora and the R3 Satria Neo.
Present at the roadshow were a couple of celebrities and PROTON Australia ambassador
and eye candy Miss Universe Australia, Scherri lee Biggs.
Awesomeness!

The Lotus Evora. Incredibly hot!

There was also this really interesting game there that really caught my attention.
This game is called Batak and it is supposedly
a game to train hand-eye coordination and reaction time.
The public was invited to try it and the average score that night, as I noticed, is about 50 odd.
According to what I found out from the organizers, the racers all clocked a minimum of 90 for their scores!
Super fast reaction!

Anyway, here is a video I found on Youtube so you can see how the Batak works.
This fella in this clip got some supersonic hands man!

Screen shot 2011-10-26 at PM 03.45.34

And I didn’t play the game (scared I might score too little and be paiseh since it’s so crowded) Heh!

The next day, I was honoured to be invited to take a tour around the more exclusive area
where the racers chill and relax when they are not racing!
I also got the chance to walk around the pitstop areas and find out more about what goes on behind the scene.

And my VIP pass! :D

Screen shot 2011-10-26 at PM 03.47.10

I can’t believe I was just sitting outside the rooms where the racers are doing their massages. Hahahaha.
I may sound bimbotic here but I think many F1 fans would kill to go where I went. :p
Anyway I peeped into one of the rooms and saw one of the racers being massaged. Hahaha!

Screen shot 2011-10-26 at PM 03.47.18

These racers are all so young!
I think some of them are not even of legal age to rent a car! It’s amazing.

Screen shot 2011-10-26 at PM 03.47.23

That’s Lotus Renault! Yeps, the highlight of my visit there was to take a look at the pitstop area.
That is like the most private areas there so I wasn’t allowed to take photos in there.
But it was really eye opening and I learnt a couple things about the engineering that went on behind these races.
I never knew there are so many types of tyres, and that they are all pre-warmed to about 90 over degrees C before the races
so that they can perform optimally.
And if you think watching the races would hurt your ears,
wait will you stand right next to the engines and hear them rave the engines up to test them.
Insane.

By the way, this are the nice PROTON and Lotus reps who brought me around that day.

Here are some of the tyres they use during wet weather.

Screen shot 2011-10-26 at PM 03.47.48
Screen shot 2011-10-26 at PM 03.47.59

And these are dry weather. How on earth can the cars stay on the ground at such high speed with tyres like that?!

I was also invited to one amazing F1 party at 1 Altitude where
there is a whole line of Lotus sports cars along the main road just outside the club.
Everyone there were all dressed up immaculately and everything looks so posh and done up.
It was my first time to 1 Altitude and I actually lost my way as I was trying to get there.
But fortunately there were this two really friendly Swedish guys who led me there and they even got A into the party as well!

Awesomeness! This is A and I looking happy at the party. Hahaha.
It was really a great party and everyone there were all so friendly!

25th September 2011 – the actual day of the race!
I was given a seat at the Bay Grandstand where the view was spectacular
with the beautiful Marina Bay Sands and Arts Science Museum as backdrop.
Watching the race on the television and watching it live is such a different experience.
The raving of the engines, the screeching of the tyres, the exclamation of the crowds made everything exhilarating!

I decided that I couldn’t just sit there throughout the 61 laps so I ventured out
and strolled around the vicinity in hopes of getting some pictures.
Unfortunately, my camera wasn’t good enough to snap a decent picture of the fast cars.

Most of the photos ended up like that. I can almost hear the “ZOOOOOOM!” when I look at the photos!
Hahahahaha!

All in all, I really had a good time even thought I was sweating buckets and had to walk so much.
It was really great to be part of this whole amazing F1 Grand Prix and big thanks to PROTON for the love!
