The reason why everyone should own a Blackberry.

September 29th, 2010 by sixpegs

Some call it the dark side, but for me, I’d call it the ‘fun side’.
I have chosen the fun side, have you?

After spending one month with the beloved BlackBerry Bold,
there is something I need to say. BlackBerry is so much fun that I’m totally in love with it!
Well, other than the gorgeous outlook of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone,
the most attractive thing about a Blackberry has got to be its functions!

The Twitter application in BBM is somewhat similar to the one on an iPhone,
but waayyyyy more awesome! It’s neat and super idiot-proof.
And you can attach pictures alongside with your tweets all within the same app.

Savvy!
But my favourite function, however, would have to be the BBM!
And now I finally realized why everyone around me who is using the BBM is so in love with it.
It’s like being able to be in the loop 24/7,
sending the receiving messages from your loved ones and friends becomes so easy!
My friends from Nuffnang has also started a group chat on BBM!
It’s really cool because that’s like the best and coolest place to hold discussions!
Hahahahaha! My office should shift all the meetings to BBM instead!! :p
That will be like HOW COOL!
But having such a smart phone would be totally useless if you do not have a good data plan.
Muahahaha.

Thank God I found my SingTel Youth Blackberry Flexi plan!

BlackBerry is awesome for its ability for me to handle my multiple email accounts oh-so-easily.
I can now also talk to some of my blog readers on BBM without letting out my phone number!
This is something totally amazing.
(I hate myself to discovering something so awesome so late)
BlackBerries can also be connected to up to 10 email accounts
(that includes all my accounts in Yahoo!, Hotmail and Gmail).
Life is made so much easier for me!
Visiting and surfing Facebook on my Blackberry is also as easy as ABC.
Everything is easy to use and navigation is also made easy with the trackpad on the amazing phone!
If you are one that can be easily addicted to new gadgets,
try the Blackberry with care because it will surely get you hooked. Haha!

If you wanna upload pictures to Facebook or Twitter, you can also do it with the Blackberry!

I freaking love the flash on this phone because I used to be very depressed
whenever I try to use my other phones to take pictures in the dark.
The flash is really important!
I took this picture of Maliboo IN COMPLETE DARKNESS!
See how awesome and bright it turned out to be! :p

Other than this, I also use my Blackberry to check the comments on my blog! :D
Approving comments is really easy on the Blackberry.
And it really helps when the connection is really fast as well.
Sometimes, I use the phone to reply comments as well. Heh!
Great for me now since I have already started on a new job! :)

Oh! And before I forget, there are also many themes that you can choose for your Blackberry!
I especially love the ones with Hello Kitty in it!
I know I look like a Hello-Kitty-hater kind of girl because of my physical appearance,
but I am really a Hello Kitty fan! Hahahaha.
See what pretty themes I found that can be used on the Blackberry Bold 9700 smartphone –

And to fulfill all the hardcore BBM-ing, emailing and surfing, I have the most hardcore plan to boot!

The SingTel Youth Blackberry Flexi plan has got to be the best BlackBerry plan for any youth!

The two plans are the BlackBerry Flexi Youth plan at S$48/month &
BlackBerry Flexi Value Youth plan at S$68/month.
With these plans, students and NSFs can now enjoy exclusive benefits like free unlimited SMS,
free incoming calls and free outgoing calls from campus and camps!
(Hello, that’s a lot of money saved okay!)

But seriously, we all know.
We hardly even SMS each other now that we have found the BBM!
And all that non-stop BBM-ing, Twittering and Facebook-ing actions,
we’re gonna need a good data plan.
And with these Youth plans, 15GB of data is given!

I’d say these plans will be good for addicts like you and I. :p
Well, not only is BlackBerry plans affordable, the new BlackBerry Onyx is also equally affordable.
It is easy to use and access to social networking sites is also made so much simpler!
God-sent!

All I can say is, with these awesome plans by the ever-generous SingTel,

Visit here right now for more details, guys!

P.S: I actually did this ad couple months ago and I’m really glad that I can post it up now.
I’ve been using the Blackberry on-and-off for a couple months now
and I really have to admit that it’s pretty awesome!
Connection with Singtel is really good. Do try it out if you’re thinking of getting a BB! :)

Rain or shine?

September 28th, 2010 by sixpegs

Although my hair is really short, I think I still get haircuts more regularly than many other girls.
This time round, I got a little greedy and went straight for a pixie cut again.
And of course, I’m loving it insanely!
Well, I’m proud that I’m one of the few girls who had the balls to actually even attempt to cut my hair this short.
I’m a sucker for pixie cuts and there are so many other women out there
who had proved that the pixie cut is simply THE HAIRCUT!

And of course, though I don’t look that glamourous, here’s mine! :x

I don’t know why but this short hair can make me feel insanely sexy sometimes.
HAHAHAHA!
Thank you to Luis from Salon Vim for the gorgeous haircut. What can I say?
This guy is really, really good with short hairdos and if there is anyone out there who needs a pixie cut too,
be sure to look Luis up. Oh! And don’t forget to call in advance to make an appointment.
It’s really not expensive to get your hair done at Salon Vim, trust me on this. :p

And you must have noticed by now that I have got funky purple highlights on my fringe. Heh!
I really have to admit that it’s an awesome icebreaker because
the first thing anyone whom I’m meeting for the first time would comment on – is my hair!

Here is Salon Vim’s current promotion if you’re planning to pay them a visit:

I also had lunch with my colleagues last Thursday to bid one of our colleagues goodbye.
It was his last day at JobsCentral and so we gathered for one last lunch with him.
Derek is a mega crappy king in JobsCentral but I think his jokes and easy going personality
had made many people’s (including mine) day before!

Here is Derek, who honestly thinks he looks like Rain. Hahaha!!

Hence, I sincerely hope you’ll find a greener pasture out there Derek! :)

Later that day, I also had dinner with Buttons at Casuarina Prata @ Thomson.

The food may look pretty decent here but please don’t be deceived.
I was initially pretty excited about eating there but to my dismay, the food there is really horrible.
Sorry for being blunt but with that kinda money, I think I’ll be a happier girl at any random kopitiam!
The food there is expensive and the prata all tasted horrible. MEH!!

Okay, suddenly something random.
I bought new shoes and a new watch last week!
The shoes are from Everbest. And as far as I remember, Everbest is like a SUPER auntie brand!
Hahaha! But ohmigod these shoes are SOOO comfortable to be in!!
I’m wearing them to work everyday and they have didn’t hurt my feet at all since Day One!
I’m in love.

And like I’ve mentioned in my previous blog entry, I just visited Bali over the last weekend.
It was pretty awesome for me.
There are many “first time’s” for me in this trip.
It’s the first time I went overseas with Mommy alone.
It’s the first time I in Bali.
It’s the first time I flew by Garuda.
And it’s also the first time I flew by Business Class!
I’ll be back with more updates soon but in the meantime, here are some highlights of the trip!

I promise to be back with a new entry about my short but eye-opening Bali trip!
Meanwhile, I’ll be getting mad crazy at work.
As some of your guys might have already known, JobsCentral will be having a career fair this weekend!
It’s happening at Suntec Convention Centre so if you guys need a career fair to go to,
you know exactly where to go to huh! :p
If you need more information, you can visit the JobsCentral website here.

Can’t wait for the weekend to be here so I can hang out with my girlfriends! I miss them like crazy!!
Aright, TATA for now! <3

Thank you, Mom.

September 21st, 2010 by sixpegs

Trying to name the country flags at the opening ceremony? Feeling proud whenever Singapore won a medal?
Or complaining about how you had to give way everytime you saw a YOG bus?
Whatever it may be, our focus during the YOG was mainly on how many medals each country won,
who were the more outstanding athletes and what-not.
But did you know that there was actually a group of people who were not really concerned about these things at all?

During the recent YOG, P&G hosted mothers of youth athletes who visited our country during the games.
Their “Thank you Mums” campaign has truly touched me.

And this is such a beautiful ad they have produced.

I’m not sure about you, but I can still vividly remember the times when
my Mom saw potential and believed in me even when the whole world thought otherwise.
When others thought it’s embarrassing to learn how to cycle at the age of 13, my Mom saw perseverance in me.
To her, it was my first important step to overcome something I used to be so afraid of.
To the many mothers of the YOG athletes, I believe they too saw strength and determination in their children
even in times when the athletes didn’t finish their races with gold medals.
And it was also this same immense amount of support that kept the athletes going throughout the 12-day sporting event.
This is the reason why I thought P&G has done a great job by recognizing the efforts of
the athletes’ mothers who came all the way to Singapore to support their children!

With over 200 nations participating in the YOG 2010,
it is almost impossible to invite big numbers of fans and supporters from each and every country.
Thus, there could be a possibility that these athletes might feel discouraged and left-out.
And this is also especially true because the athletes are young teenagers who
probably need more moral support and motivation throughout the games.
Even as a 25-year-old, I’m pretty much a mommy’s girl, and I’d very much like to have Mom with me on all of my long work trips.
She is the person I trust most and I feel most comfortable around her.
To an average 16-year-old, his/her mother would definitely also be his/her best confidante.

When we were wondering who could be the best person to look after these important Mommies,
P&G stood up and took up the huge responsibility of showering these ladies with everything they ever needed.
To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that P&G actually has
so many leading brands under them such as Whisper, Gillette, Pantene, Olay, Duracell and many more!
I don’t know about you but I think P&G is probably one of the best we can get for the “Thank you, Mom” campaign.

Isn’t it awfully sweet, to know that there were many, many loving mothers from all over the world in Singapore for the Youth Olympic Games 2010?
More importantly, they were not here to make sure their countries walked away with just medals,
they were here to ensure that their little ones were fine – giving the children a hug just when they needed one,
and telling them “I’m proud of you!” when they won at the games.

I also want to take this chance to thank my very own Mom for all the love she had showered upon me over these years.
Whether I’m a 13-year-old or a 25-year-old, I will always be that little girl of yours, Mee! :p

I’m getting out again!

September 20th, 2010 by sixpegs

I was ill for the whole of last week.
Coughing all the time and feeling choked with phlegm perpetually.
And what I hate most, is to have a right nostril that is perpetually blocked.
Hate it!
But am really glad that I’m feeling all better now.

Anyway, I’ve got some good news to share!!
I have been discussing with Garuda Airlines about some collaboration for the past 2 weeks,
and this collaboration will soon be made possible!
Instead of the originally-proposed Jakarta, I have requested for a Bali trip and they agreed!

I have never been to Indonesia but I have heard so, so much about the awesome beaches and lovely resorts in Bali.
To be honest, I have never been familiar with the Indonesian culture except for that puppet show they have,
oh! And their amazing Javanese massage. *evil grin*

In a nutshell, I just cannot wait to get to Bali to busk in the warm sun under the clear blue sky!

Garuda has sponsored me with 2 tickets to Bali for this coming weekend.
I’m bringing my Mom with me! And we’ll be able to use Jet Quay – the elite gateway at Changi.
Woohoo! I’m loving blogging more and more. :p
The hotel I’ll be staying at would be the Le Grande Bali which is also absolutely gorgeous!

Can’t wait to be there!! <3
Gonna miss Buttons and Maliboo when I’m there.
Thank you for this wonderful upcoming Bali trip, Garuda.
Will be back with more updates on this one! :*)

I just had a haircut at Salon Vim couple days ago as well, and now my hair is short as hell!
I had *ahem* purple highlights on my fringe. Hahahaha!
I’m not sure if it’s too funky for me, but the first thing Buttons said when he saw my hair was:
“Wah! Purple?! You think we still young ah!”
LOL!
Here’s us at Starbucks @ ION Orchard.

Like my pixie cut? :p

Well well well, indeed, we’re not young anymore.
I’ve been doing some math lately and I think I’m really not saving up enough.
Everything is so expensive now and with my tiny salary, I really don’t know when I’ll save up enough.
Sigh, everything used to be so much simpler.
You go to school every morning, get some shillings from your Mom
and those shillings will be able to last you for the entire day.
You eat whatever your Granny cooks for you at lunch and you just go play with your friends the whole evening.
Growing up and growing old is such a tedious and taxing process.

Bleah. I must work hard and save lots of money!

Alright, this is just a random update.

Sorry that I haven’t been updating with quality stuff lately.
Really isn’t easy trying to keep your life as interesting when you have a full time job. Haha!
For all those who mentioned that I haven’t been updating enough, thanks for the comments.
And I somewhat agree with you.
But what I promise is that I am still who I am,
I’m still that girl who studied 6 years in NTU, still that girl who believes that I’m made for bigger things.
Promise I’ll be back with more posts – entertaining, honest posts. :)

Goodnight.

Flea me to the moon!

September 16th, 2010 by sixpegs

I had my first “shop owner” experience at the Flea organized by Tee Boxx last weekend at Supperclub!
It was a really, really fun experience and I enjoyed myself tremendously at the flea.
Never knew it’s so fun to bargain with the customers. Hahaha!
That’s me on my way there. Look at the heaps of stuff we’ve brought along to sell.

Supperclub actually looks like a really big place at night already, but in the day, it becomes even bigger! :p
I was sponsored a pretty and spacious “bed stall”, courtesy of Tee Boxx. (Thanks guys!)
The space was enough for both Buttons and me to lay our stuff all over!
I brought a lot of my old clothes, shoes and bags and Buttons brought some of his Mom’s stuff to sell.
His mother got the cutest Hello Kitty stuff ever! <3

I made little signs for the stall and I think I did a great job! (Heh. A bit bhb)
This is my very own www.sixpegs.com stall! So fun!!

Big thanks for Buttons who was great company and it’s really great to have someone to play and fool around with through the long hours!
I met a couple blogshop owners & readers there as well.
Great great fun! :D
Alright, for this week’s Sunday Advertorials, I have three shops lined up and one of them is owned by my very own besties! Check them out.

Don’t let there be a second prison.

September 12th, 2010 by sixpegs

As most of you would already know by now, I’m currently working in JobsCentral.
We are actually the Official Job Partner at the Yellow Ribbon Run 2010, and wow, I’m really proud to be part of it.

It was the first time I set foot into the Changi Prison and it was quite an eye-opener for me to be honest.
I always thought the prison would be a very exciting and dangerous place,
where the offenders would sometimes go on strikes, or try to escape and stuff (too much Prison Break!)
On the contrary, it is actually a very peaceful and almost-too-depressing place to be in.
It made me feel very uncomfortable to be scrutinized by the officers at almost every checkpoint.
Well, but all that were necessary I guess.

I had to be at Changi Prison at 7am that day and it was really quite a feat for me to get up that early.
To make things worse, IT RAINED!
You know how SHIOK it is to sleep on rainy mornings or not. Sigh.

I was super tired that morning that I wore my shorts inside out all the way from home to the prison.
Super embarrassing.
Okay, that’s just some random throw face moments I had.

But now that after the entire event was over, I’m glad I was at least a small part of it.
It is somewhat encouraging and inspirational (amidst the occasional depressive moments)
to hear the voices of the offenders through the paintings they did.
Freedom is truly priceless.

Some legends never die.

September 6th, 2010 by sixpegs

To lead a better life I need my love to be here.

Here, making each day of the year
Changing my life with a wave of her hand
Nobody can deny that there’s something there

There, running my hands through her hair
Both of us thinking how good it can be
Someone is speaking but she doesn’t know he’s there

I want her everywhere and if she’s beside me
I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her everywhere
Knowing that love is to share

Each one believing that love never dies
Watching her eyes and hoping I’m always there

I want her everywhere and if she’s beside me
I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her everywhere
Knowing that love is to share

Each one believing that love never dies
Watching her eyes and hoping I’m always there

To be there and everywhere
Here, there and everywhere

What has SIXPEGS been up to?

September 4th, 2010 by sixpegs

This week has finally came to an end, for most people at least.
But me.. *sob sob* I’ve got an event to attend to over the weekend and I’m not exactly looking forward to it.
I’ve gotta be at the Yellow Ribbon Run on Sunday! *wails*
Well, the good thing is that the whole Yellow Ribbon is an awesome project & it’s only right that I support it.
(Being politically correct)
But the bad thing is – I NEED TO BE AT CHANGI PRISON AT 7AM ON SUNDAY!

Oh my god. Fuck my life.

ANYWAYS, that aside, everything has been rather good for me.
I signed up for a yoga package at PURE Yoga (this is not an ad!) & I’m really loving it!

I’m sure you guys will ask me how much it costs, so I’ll just say it first – $164 per month.
I’m already in my 3rd week there and I really find it very enjoyable.
Heard from the people around me who have yoga memberships that
it’s highly possible that I’ll get lazy once I go into my 3rd or 4th month.
But I shall be determined and not let that happen to me! *focused*
I wanna tone up and look healthy and slim again!
Really breaks me to realize that I don’t look as good in my old dresses anymore. Boohoo!

Speaking of dresses, here’s a pressie from Challures.
I love it because it makes my boobs look big and hides my larger-than-life backside.

Well that aside, I’m looking forward to my year-end Beijing trip with Buttons
and a possible Indonesia sponsored trip later this month!
It’s always good to be able to get out of the country for some quality fun and unwinding. Heh!
Hope it all works out and I’ll be well on my way seeing the world one stop at a time again. :)
Am especially looking forward to visit Beijing because I’ve never been to China and I’ve always wanted to be there.
Buttons will be there for classes and it’s gonna be really cool to tag along,
and save on accommodation! *auntie mode*
The Indonesia trip is still in discussion so I’m not sure if things are confirmed yet
but am definitely hoping it’ll be made possible.

This is just a short update, I’ve gotta head down to Changi Prison for some work tomorrow,
and I better be sleeping soon. :’(

Oh!! Here’s a shoutout to all ladies who love flea markets!
There will be a flea at Supperclub next Saturday (11th September) & I’ll be getting a booth there as well!
Will be selling away lots of my old dresses at discounted prices! :D

There will be couple other blogger like the pretty Beatrice and gorgeous Qingqing as well.

Make a date with me and be there okay! <3
Goodnight and will be back with more updates and photos soon!

@benjaminlimyi, thanks for being you.

Happy Teachers’ Day.
