Brokenships

How has the day been for you guys?
This week has been full or ups and downs for me.
Subject matters aren’t really settled in school yet.
And they are really driving me nuts.
You know I really hate doing all the administrative stuff -
paying bills, making official calls or whatever so.
I just don’t like doing them at all.
Thankfully, I got the help from my mentor in school.
He has been a great help, and great motivation too.
I think I need to motivate myself more, especially towards school.
Very often, we’re really just all alone in this world.
Just gotta learn to deal with things alone, whether we like it or not.
Am I right?
There is a new exhibition in town.
Museum of Broken Relationships.
And I visited it a couple days ago.
Museum of Broken Relationships
“The museum has everything from romantic and touching letters
to different gifts given to lovers like teddy bears and photos,
but also such unusual examples as leg prothesis
donated by a war veteran who fell in love with his physiotherapist
or a gall stone.
Every single object on display is anonymous,
and has a short description of the item
related to the relationship that was behind. That’s why it could be therapeutic for those with newly broken hearts.”
I really enjoyed myself at the exhibition.
I read about stories of broken marriages,
and those who lost their loved ones to death.
It is painful to know, that all that remained from these relationships
are just these momentos of love.
And to try to imagine the intense emotions of these people breaking up.
It made me believe that there are really worse things compared to
these break ups people like us go through.
Others are dealing with life and death,
and putting an end to relationships that had lasted decades.
Therapeutical, indeed.
If you just had your heart broken, then you should really check it out.
The exhibition ends tomorrow.
18 January 2009.
It is at Jendela (Visual Arts Studio) in the Esplanade.
Opens until 8.30pm daily.
Oh well, since we’re already on this topic,
I chanced upon this adorable website.
This one allows you to sell or exchange anything your ex boyfriend gave you.
Those that you don’t want to keep, and there’s no way he’s gonna get it back.
Hahaha! Oh man, this is so cute.
I wonder which angry mademoiselle came up with this one :)
Interesting.
I caught a couple of really good shows too!
“Before Sunrise” by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy on DVD.
I’ve gotten “Before Sunset” but has yet to watch it.
This show is super nice.
It shows nothing but the magical connection that could take place
between two complete strangers.
The courage and blind faith to go on an adventure almost unknown to you.
Doing something you’d normally never do
and to know for sure what will happen,
rather than to live your life guessing what might have been.
I watched “Milk” by Sean Penn too.
I have to admit that it makes me somewhat uncomfortable to see
James Franco kissing Sean Penn.
But it becomes easier on the eye as the show proceeds after I’ve gotten used to it.
Haha!
It is a great show though – depicting the life of Harvey Milk and his struggles.
My life seems so boring, isn’t it? Haha.
Going to school and exhibitions.
Checking out websites to see
what other boyfriends have been giving their girlfriends.
Couching all day to watch DVDs.
And like now, it’s a fine Saturday afternoon.
But I’m all alone at home with my dog,
blogging away while having my cold ham and beer for lunch.
Pathetic.

January 19th, 2009 at 5:32 pm
hey pegs…i’m usually a lurker on ur blog…decided to de-lurk cos’ read this entry of urs’ which u wrote about before sunrise, before sunset…:)
cool movie plots yah? totally different from the usual romantic plots. was introduced these 2 movies by my guy friend which happened to be his favs…yeps..the 2 just shared sucha magical connection despite the fact that they don’t know each other prior to this..and they just went with the flow..if i’m not wrong, ‘before sunset’ is based on the timeline 10 years later after the release of ‘before sunrise’..so it’s just amazing how the 2 characters were being brought together after 10 years of leading their own lives, as they separated subsequently after the brief moment they shared during the train ride in before sunrise…hmm…fate maybe since they were brought together again after 10 years? :)
enjoy ‘before sunset’ gal! (^o^)

belinda, “before sunrise” is a great show indeed.
just dialogues throughout the show, interesting conversations. it’s really a very different romantic flick. :)
i like it a lot.
i’m looking forward to “before sunset”. hope i find some time for it soon. thanks girl.

pathetic would hardly be the word i’ll use to describe your alone time :)
i’ve been reading for a long time,
but the first time i’m leaving a comment.
kinda strange, perhaps out of the ordinary for myself. but i’m feeling a little more on the sentimental side tonight.
and one last thing, i think that you’re so much more than what you already am
:)

where’s the location for the museum of broken relationships?
January 20th, 2009 at 9:33 am
tell me how u find “before sunset” after u managed to squeeze some time to watch it yah..:)
try catching serendipity if u haven’t watched it before? that’s also another of my all time fav cos’ it’s a not very typical kind of romantic plots…another one that i like..is titled If Only, starring jennifer love hewitt but it’s kind of sad one ah…
alritey..back to work for mua! have a great week ahead!
January 20th, 2009 at 10:45 am
