that very white dress was rented out a few hours before i could reach the costume shop!

it is the halloween party at zouk tomorrow!
and it has got me all excited about it!!! :D
wooo!

i’m going to get spooked together with my fave gfs!
sindy, rossie, fanny and jaws! yay!
fun fun fun.
the thing i look forward to most is the dressing up process!
it is really fun to get the outfits tgr, and makeup tgr etc.

initially, sindy dear and i wanted to dress up as those chinese maid dolls you see at chinese funerals.
those with tiny red lips and red circles on their cheeks.
but we are chicky chickens. haha.
kinda got freaked out on the idea eventually and we decided to just go with something prettier.
hahahahaha.

the girls were all very creative with the outfits!
haha!

as for me, i was split between dressing up like marilyn monroe or a hooker or a nerd.
HAHA.
i thought it will damm fun to dress up like a screwed up hooker.
torn and tattered and soiled and bloody.
netted stockings, torn clothes revealing bra etc.
haha.
i googled the net for images for reference and i stumbled upon marilyn monroe’s life story.
i was appalled by the unfortunate events she had to undergo throughout her life
considering that she is such a beautiful and glamarous figure!

Norma Jeane Mortenson (later known as Marilyn Monroe) was born on June 1, 1926.
Norma’s father was identified as Edward Mortenson on her birth certificate,
yet it was unlikely that he was actually her father.
Norma Jeane was Gladys Pearl Monroe Baker’s third child.
Norma Jeane’s childhood was an unhappy one, characterized by neglect,
a series of foster homes, alleged sexual assault and emotional heartache.
When the child was seven, her mother was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and later institutionalization.
Following her mother’s admittance,
Norma Jeane shuffled from orphan homes and foster homes.
As an adult, she later claim that while at one of the foster homes,
she was sexually assaulted.

She was first married at the age of 16 to 21-year-old Jim Dougherty whom she only knew for several weeks.
Jim joined the Merchant Marines and a year later he was shipped off to New Guinea and then to the Pacific during the war.
To fill the time and put extra money in her pocket, Norma Jeane worked at an aircraft and parachute-inspecting plant named Radio Plane Munitions Factory, where she inspected and painted planes.
Feeling lonely and insecured, Norma Jeane began to escape into alcohol.

An army photographer spotted the uncommon and surprisingly natural beauty of Norma Jeane
and hired her to model for a magazine then.
Her popularity skyrocketed and she appeared on the covers of 33 national magazines.
Norma Jeane’s fear of loneliness and boredom propelled her into several affairs during her marriage.
In 1946 Norma Jeane filed for divorce – an event that would be a turning point in her life.

Norma Jeane set her sights higher and began to dream of becoming a movie star.

At the age of 20, she was offered a contract by 20th Century Fox but on one condition.
That she will change her name to something more catchy.
It was then that Hollywood launched the new face and name — Marilyn Monroe.
The rest was history.

Although blessed with beauty, Marilyn lacked a natural talent for the art.
Marilyn tried desperately to be a great actress, but it was not a skill that came easily for her.

Almost one year to the day she signed her contract, 20th Century Fox dropped Marilyn Monroe with no explanation.
Marilyn was just as quickly out of cash as she was out of a job.
During the late 1940s Marilyn’s career took an unlikely turn.
In desperate need of money, she returned to modeling and also took less acceptable trades.

Marilyn allegedly worked as a part-time call-girl and actress in stag films.
More than 15 years later, segments of the clip showing a younger Marilyn in sexual poses were revealed to the public in the 1980 issue of Penthouse magazine.

The years following her release from her contract were not her most glamorous and were filled with self-sacrifice and pain.
During this upheaval, a man purportedly climbed through her bedroom window and sexually attacked her as she lay in her bed.

Marilyn had a very unhappy love life.
Men who thought would be the one for her walked in, and out of her life.

In 1949, out of desperation and helplessness,
Marilyn posed nude for photographer Tom Kelley who used the pictures in a calendar layout.
That same year, Marilyn auditioned for a part in an upcoming movie – Love Happy.
The part that she was auditioning for required a sexy girl,
and Marilyn was asked to walk for the scene.
The director was shocked by the sex appeal that emanated from Marilyn.
Later that year, Marilyn began an affair with one of Hollywood’s most influential and powerful agents, Johnny Hyde.
Hyde convinced Marilyn to have plastic surgery on her chin to remove scars, regularly bleach her hair and, as rumor has it, to have her tubes tied so that she was unable to have children.
Hyde also helped Marilyn clinch a contract with 20th Century Fox once again.

Marilyn began to receive great reviews for her performances and her image as a sex symbol began to blossom.

After Johnny Hyde’s death, she was so depressed tt she attempted suicide by swallowing a bottle of sleeping pills.
It was not her first or last attempt at suicide.

In 1952, Marilyn’s love life was taking off.
Marilyn had affairs with several people
including baseball legend Joe DiMaggio and writer Bob Slatzer.
She eventually married Bob Slatzer out of impulse and the marriage lasted barely three days.

After courting Marilyn for almost a year,
Yankees baseball legend Joe DiMaggio wanted to marry her.
However, the marriage was not a happy one.
Marilyn claimed later that she wanted a divorce on the grounds
that Joe was mentally cruel to her.

Marilyn “disappeared” from the public eye in an effort to escape her chaotic life in California.
It was her chance to reflect on her life and reinvent herself.
The decision was reached when Marilyn refused to star in any more movies that stereotyped her in dumb-blonde roles.

While enjoying her self-imposed exile,
she met playwright Arthur Miller and got married on June 29, 1956.
The two frequently quarreled and Miller at one point indicated that Marilyn was like his ex-wife whom he despised.

In 1960, Marilyn’s life began to take a turn for the worse.
She suffered from a series of nervous breakdowns, several failed pregnancies and a collapsing marriage.
Her world began to fall apart.

Marilyn’s career also became problematic because she could mentally no longer handle the stresses that disrupted her life and happiness.
She was notorious for arriving late or not showing up at all during the shooting of several films.
Her reputation plummeted.

In the ensuing year and a half,
she was in and out of psychiatric clinics seeking treatment for her diagnosis of borderline personality disorder.
She also had severe addiction to barbiturates and alcohol –
that she treated as n outlet to deal with her emotional pain and insomnia.

In the beginning months of 1962, Marilyn and the Kennedy brothers
(then president John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy) acquainted through high end parties.
She was believed to have had separate affairs with the two men simultaneously.

At the same time the FBI began to obtain information on Marilyn,
which was assimilated into an ever-growing file on her activities.
There was also rumor that criminal organizations, such as the Mafia took an interest in Marilyn, especially in her affairs with the Kennedy brothers.

Marilyn didn’t realize just how deeply involved she was in a very dangerous game with dangerous people….

i have been sent to hell.

mugging and preparing for my examinations.
camping in the library almost everyday to try to complete my tutorials.
(the tutorials that were supposed to be completed months ago!)
it is really torturing. :(

the worse thing is, no matter how much time i try to set aside for my studies,
i still don’t seem to get much things done.
i wonder if it is because of the ineffectiveness in my study method,
or simply because i can’t concentrate at all. :(
i definitely it is the latter.
boo.

things weren’t exactly going my way either.

today morning, i was supposed to have a shoot with SHAPE magazine for the december issue.
(those step-by-step exercise guides you always see in health magazines)
was told to reach genting lane by 9am
but i woke up at frigging 9.20am!!!
you can imagine my face when i realised the time after i woke up! (!!!!)
i rushed like nothing and ran down to try to get a cab asap.
but waited for 15 mins but to no avail.

you know people always say “when you don’t need cabs, there are plenty. but when you need one bloody one, there is NONE!”

i know it may sound quite lame, but i totally stand by it. period!

i called for a cab after 15 mins of waiting-in-vain,
and the bloody cab company tell me that there are NO CABS AVAILABLE!!!!

(!!!!!)

madness!

eventually, i hailed a cab in the end and is nearly TWO HOURS LATE!

that is still not the worse part.
as you see, i missed breakfast and had a rather hectic and nerve wrecking morning.
during the shoot, i was supposed to try out 12 different poses.

no, it is not as easy as it sounds.
(i know i’m weak also lah) haha.
but i had to be in standard push-up position (when the arms are bent 90degrees)
and SMILE, and be corrected on my pose.
eg, “hips higher, peggy!” or “neck straight, peggy!”
and after the shot is taken,
the disappointing comment on the picture is,

“oh man.. can’t see her left hand.. CAN WE DO IT AGAIN?”

imagine this happening like around 10 times to each pose, for 12 poses.

and the next worse thing,
i almost fainted halfway through the shoot!!!!
i broke out in cold sweat, and vision went very very white.
i’m sure alot of you have had this feeling before.
and the next half of the shoot, i had to squat between every shot.
and make sure i don’t pass out.

it is official, PEGGY IS A COUCH POTATO! WEAKLING!!!!

boo. and we were also alot behind time.
mainly because i was very very late.
i felt really really bad! :*(

there is a charity car wash event at toa payoh subaru hub this afternoon! :)
but it is a pity that only 9 girls turned up…

my computer at home is officially down.
i’ve got no idea why. sigh.
but honestly if you ask me, i think it is a great time that the computer should break down.

new face is over and done with but i’m really glad that i’ll be meeting up with the girls again this saturday at a charity car wash event organised by radio 91.3! :)
it will be held at subaru hub at toa payoh!

i’m still in the midst of discussing the teeth whitening deal with the company.
but i can’t wait to have my teeth whitened. lol.
the company is a newly established one.
in high end holland v, but they are actually having an introductory price of $500 for LED in-office teeth whitening for their customers now!!!!

the new face has been a great journey for me.
from the endless rehearsals to daniel boey’s scoldings,
there is only one conclusion now – they are all worth it.

i’m feeling lost all out of a sudden!
hahaha!
no more rehearsals at 7am in takashimaya, no more trips to SPH.
and all the girls who had accompanied in the journey are all back to their
own lives.

it has been a great experience!
and i’ve learnt a great deal! catwalking is fun!
hahaha.

i met many interesting characters at new face!
emileen, difei, audrey, poojaa, nargis, ann, andrea, liying. they’re all
lovely people! yay!
i’m such a blessed one! :)

the new face ended as a big success!
no girls broke their legs on the runway! and no dancers danced out of the platform!
and everyone is happy!
i’m extremely happy to see my beloved friends down at taka to support me too!!
my family are extremely supportive and the wonderful gfs/bf including bland, erica, rossie, sindy, sokser, chewlian, emily, pieling, gwen, fanny, jason.
i hope i didn’t miss out anyone! hee.
and my darling boyfriend bought me a wonderful bouquet of lilies!
he even had the balls to present them to me when i am on stage! WOO! haha!
it shocked me a bit! lol.

i had a fabulous time at the samsung ultra party last night.
nicholas invited me to the party and i brought along dear liying and poojaa! :)
the party was really cool!
haha. alot of celebrities like cynthia koh, ericia lee, ezann lee, beatrice chia, lisa ang, CORINNE MAY, allan wu and WONG LI LIN! SCREAMS!
hahaha!

my heart skipped a beat when i saw wong li lin! i totally heart her! :D
she and allan wu makes a perfect perfect match! hee!

there were fashion shows and performances by our very own corrine may!!!
wooo!!
we ran into daniel there too! :)

THEN! i saw samantha!!!!! she introduced me to her (very siao siao) friend – CHARLENE!

this is all the new paper new face finals is all about so far! :)
it has been a great experience for me i’d say!

another rehearsal today!
the usual few again. :)
we learnt the four sequences for the catwalk session today!
and took a peek at the com cards of all the male models being considered.
exciting exciting!!!
HAHAHAHAHA!
all the male models this year are caucasians.
quite sad though. haha.
although the caucasian models are REALLY HOT, i thought chinese models give people (well, at least me) a greater sense of affiliation.

hehehehe. pardon me.

BUT I STILL LOVE THE PIPING HOT MALE MODELS!!! wooo!

i bought a new home for cammie and my cellphone today!

hehehe. caught up with miumiu for a while in school as well.
i think i’m going to fall ill soon.
sore eyes, sore throat and had a wee bit gastric today as well.
shucks. i feel awful! *bleah*

luckily my brother spiced up the night a little. HAHA!

went out with mom, aunt and aunty jopilian today!
and i bought a new camera!
all thanks to mighty aunty jopilian who brought us to her hubby’s shop at sim lim! :D
uncle chris was v helpful and aunty jopilian also bought us yummy dinner.

my left eye got swollen today in the morning.
miumiu says it is some infection thingy. sigh.
luckily it got better towards the end of the day! :)
but still a lil swollen now. i hope it gets better by tmrw!

i bought a new watch from little india yesterday!
i’ve been searching high and low for this sort of watch!
and i’ve finally found it in this part of singapore! haha!
i really dig the vintage and old old lao-ah-pek look. :p

my math sucks! so this watch (which is equipped w a calculator) will be a great help to me when i’m shopping!
those 15% discount and 25% discount will be no longer a chore for me to calculate! :)
